LUCKY’S LEAD ANIMAL CARE TECHNICIAN for Dogs, Cats and Exotics
Lucky’s lead animal care staff will support daily operations by overseeing the interactive behaviors of multiple dogs and cats, quickly resolve behavioral issues to ensure every dog’s enjoyment, safety and visit satisfaction. This position requires a lot of cleaning, feeding, medicating and over all care of pets as well as frequent interaction with customers.
We are seeking an individual with a love for animals and a great personality. If you have a heart and passion for animals this is the job for you. This position requires an active person with multi-tasking skills, a high energy level because a lot of time will be spent on your feet. We need someone who is literally not afraid to get their hands dirty, even management “scoops”!
This person will ensure the safety and security of pets, customers, associates and visitors. You must ensure the proper care of all pets in our care. You must be able to work flexible schedules and hours. We are open 7 days a week so weekends, nights and Holidays are required.

- STRONG organizational skills
- Previous veterinary experience preferred (will consider no vet experience)
- Proper restraint and Medicating of our guests
- Must be able to work one weekend day or rotating weekend
- Fast learner with lots of initiative

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following, however other duties may be assigned.
- Greet and welcome customers and pets in a friendly and professional manner
- Regularly demonstrate sincere concern for the care, attitudes and behaviors of pets and the relationship they have with their parents.
- Recognize and perform specific care needs as communicated or written by the parents of the pet and in accordance with company policy and procedures, ensuring the safety of each pet
- Animal care- feeding, medicating, cleaning of suites, hallways, play areas, and section clean ups
- Administrating medications to all required guests!
- Proper animal restraint
- Prepare play areas and suites with water, toys and a safe environment for dogs
- Appropriately assign dogs to a play group based upon guidelines
- Supervise dogs in play areas, Recognize and immediately address signs of aggression or other behavior issues.
- Ensure that waste elimination, rest, and snack breaks are provided consistently
- You must pick up feces or urine as soon as you see it to ensure cleanness and minimize diseases and smell
- Up keep of yard areas, hallways, and suites
- Responsible for providing high quality customer service and for effectively communicating LUCKY’S policies and procedures to the public, acting on the principle that the customer comes first!
- Exam all guests for check in and out
- Go over all medications and belongings with parents at check in to insure proper care.
- Perform clerical duties such as data entry, filing and records maintenance as necessary
- Responsible for following approved procedures and policies
- Animal care includes, feeding, cleaning of suites, hallways, play areas and section clean ups
- Willingly assist internal staff in all LUCKY’S programs and special events.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with co-workers, management and the public at all times
- Ensure daily checklist of your section
- Clean and return all personal belongings to pets parent at the end of their stay
- Ensure the facility’s cleanness at all times
- Janitorial Duties: taking out trash and pet waste, hosing, use of the squeegee to maintain dry floors, sweeping, mopping, restocking supplies, overall kennel cleaning maintenance
- Keeping clean restrooms after each use
- Observe and record each dogs behavior, feeding and bowel/urine output
- Additional general duties and project work as needed
- Prepare for the following day
- Notifying management of any change in a guests behavior, eating or eliminating habits
Qualifications: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Education, Skill and Preferences: High School graduate or equivalent required. Three years of experience in the veterinary field, pet boarding facilities, or Animal Shelters is required. Two years experience in customer service preferred, as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must have experience using multi-line phones, multi-tasking and one-year data entry experience. Cash handling and familiarity with MS office software is preferred.
Physical Demands: Individual will have extended periods of sitting, standing, talking and hearing. May need to bend, stoop and stretch for purposes of filing and lifting and moving of supplies and/or Dogs up to 50 lbs. Work Environment: Indoor and outdoors exposure that includes environmental conditions and working closely with animals.
